Hanwha Robotics announced on the 1st that Byung Chan Jung, the current Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has been appointed as the new CEO.

Jung, 47, graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He has led the robotics technology team in Hanwha’s machinery and momentum divisions and is currently managing the research and development division at Hanwha Robotics.

Well-known as a "technology expert," Jung has been at the forefront of developing state-of-the-art technologies at Hanwha Robotics. He has led the development of the new collaborative robot model, HCR-10L, which is set to be released this year. A representative from Hanwha Robotics said, "We expect Jung to accelerate the development of new market-leading technologies and global sales, leveraging his deep understanding of the robotics industry and extensive field experience."

Under Jung's leadership, Hanwha Robotics plans to utilize its advanced robotics technology, including collaborative robots across various fields from manufacturing to service sectors. The company is also accelerating the development of robotics technology and applications related to the food tech sector which gained attention in the market.

A Hanwha Robotics representative commented, "The use of robotics technology in food service sites has been notably increased. Together with Hanwha Foodtech, we aim to develop value-added technologies that can lead the domestic and global food tech markets."

Collaboration with subsidiaries in the Hanwha Group is also a key mission. The company plans to implement robotics technology to enhance customer service in Hanwha Galleria and Hanwha Hotels & Resorts as well as in manufacturing areas like Hanwha Aerospace and Hanwha Ocean.

Jong Hwi Seo, who has led Hanwha Robotics until now, will continue to support the development of new technologies and the expansion of networks as a technical advisor.
